About Mimice

Villa Forte is located in the small town of Mimice.
The charming Mediterranean village of Mimice is popular with tourists due to its attractive and long local beach. The picturesque village is located at the foot of the Dinara, right by the sea, in the heart of the Omis Riviera. It is about 12 km southeast of Omis and approximately 25 km from Makarska, in the heart of the Dalmatia region.

In the small town of Mimice, you will find a supermarket with an integrated bakery, a post office, as well as charming little restaurants and cafés in the picturesque town center.

In Mimice, there are two beaches that are particularly popular with families with young children, older people, and non-swimmers, as they gently slope into the clear sea.
The beaches are mostly beautiful pebble beaches, occasionally separated by small rocky outcrops, located away from traffic, offering a peaceful and pleasant environment for relaxation and unwinding. The beaches are about 800 meters from the villa. Near the beaches, you’ll find small bars and charming little restaurants.

Around the small harbor of Mimice, numerous events take place during the summer months, including dance nights, live music, karaoke, and poetry evenings. Beautiful festivals also include St. Rocco’s Day (August 16th) and the Mimice Fishermen’s Festival (late August/early September).

Mimice was founded in the 17th century, as evidenced by numerous monuments located in the old town and near the church. The settlement has preserved its charm from earlier generations through its traditional architecture, the church’s celebrations of Saint Rocco, and the production of high-quality red wine.

The Via Artistica in Mimice is definitely worth mentioning! The initiative for the Via Artistica was started over 30 years ago by the artist colony of Mimice. Over decades of work, exceptional artworks were created that are truly impressive. The Via Artistica is easily accessible from the center of the village. High above the sea, a small path winds along the coast, offering breathtaking views. The 36 sculptures along the way explore themes of light, love, and peace. A significant portion of the works was created during sculpture symposia held in Mimice in 1997, 2001, and 2018.
